“Outreach and Awareness Intern at FOAH”



The Sustainable Cultural Heritage Through Engagement of Local Communities Project (SCHEP), is a USAID project implemented by the American Center of Oriental Research (ACOR) that uses a unique methodology for preserving, managing and promoting cultural heritage resources in Jordan through a community-first approach. The project began in 2014 and will continue until 2022.

About FOAH:

The Friends of Archaeology and Heritage (FoAH) was founded in 1958 by a group of Jordanian and non-Jordanian archaeologists and residents who wanted to expand awareness and enjoyment of Jordan's rich heritage among the general public, and to explore it in all its tangible and intangible forms.

The Internship:

USAID SCHEP and FoAH are offering a paid, two-month internship opportunity (March and April) for students and recent graduates. The intern will gain experience organizing a festival to increase archaeological awareness by collaborating with the project and the association to organize and implement the activities of the Second Archaeology Festival 2020.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Communicating with the parties responsible for festival activities

·         Preparing reports on the festival activities

·         Compiling necessary information and reports for the SCHEP Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist

·         Assisting in the design of printed and digital announcements

·         Preparing materials related to the festival

·         Providing logistical support for the team regarding festival preparations

·         Assisting in administrative and other tasks related to the festival, as needed

Desired Qualifications:

·         University student or recent graduate majoring in cultural heritage management, tourism, archaeology, or any related field.

·         Proficient written and spoken Arabic and English

·         Strong oral and written communication skills

·         Working knowledge of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, etc.

·         Have a previous work experience or volunteering in awareness related activities.
