Media Intern”
About USAID
SCHEP:
The
Sustainable Cultural Heritage Through Engagement of Local Communities Project (SCHEP),
is a USAID project implemented by the American Center of Oriental Research
(ACOR) that uses a unique methodology for preserving, managing and promoting
cultural heritage resources in Jordan through a community-first approach. The
project began in 2014 and will continue until 2022.
The
Internship:
USAID SCHEP is
looking for a paid Social Media Intern to work closely with the SCHEP team on a
number of social media and communications tasks related to Tourism Development,
particularly by supporting several micro- to small-scale enterprises (MSEs)
supported by SCHEP throughout Jordan.
This
Internship is an intensive 1-month position (can be extended to additional two
months based on the performance). The work will include fieldwork and site
visits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the
social media calendar for multiple MSEs
- Brainstorm
campaign ideas along with the Tourism Development and Communications teams
- Post on
various social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn in
English and Arabic
- Develop,
write, edit, and proof communications materials such as press releases, web
stories, blog posts, and other communications materials
- Assist in
pitching stories about SCHEP-supported MSEs to local or international media
- Track social
media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns for
scalability
- Assist in
photographing and recording organizational events (i.e. community outreach
events, workshops, media visits and tours, etc.)
- Analyze
analytics to gauge the success of campaigns
- Support
marketing team at live and online events
- Additional
administrative assistance and other tasks as needed
Desired
Qualifications:
- Recent
graduate majoring in management, cultural heritage management, tourism,
communications, or any related field.
- Proficient
written and spoken Arabic and English.
- Strong oral
and written communication skills.
- Working
knowledge of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc.
