Internship Opportunity with USAID SCHEP and the Jordan Southern Ghawr Company
USAID SCHEP and the Jordan
Southern Ghawr Company have a special opportunity for junior and aspiring
architects and designers! This is a fantastic opportunity for students and
recent graduates to gain hands-on experience with a local enterprise in an up-and-coming
touristic area.
The Jordan Southern Ghawr Company
seeks an interior designer or architect (fresh graduate or advanced student) to
redesign the exterior, interior and landscape of the Safi Kitchen building in
Ghawr as Safi.
Safi Kitchen is a farm-to-table
restaurant located in the Southern Jordan Valley. The structure was purpose-built
as a restaurant, community center, and site for cooking classes. Safi Kitchen
and its partners seek to add decorative elements and give the space a welcoming
local character to appeal to visitors from Jordan and elsewhere.
The selected candidate will sign
a contract with the Jordan Southern Ghawr Company to develop their design in
close consultation with the client and partners, and then oversee and follow up
on the implementation for the duration of the work. The total estimated period
of engagement is four months. The chosen candidate will receive a modest
stipend for the duration of the internship, as well as additional compensation
for their finalized design, and USAID SCHEP will issue a certificate
acknowledging the designer’s participation in the project.
