We have been pleased to see several of our SCHEP colleagues and community members featured on the @USAID Jordan Instagram over the past few months! We look forward to sharing these features with with this profile of Shatha Mubaideen. Shatha received a SCHEP scholarship to attend the University of Oxford Online Archaeology in Practice course.
“Shatha Mubaideen was one of seven Jordanian students and early career professionals selected to receive a scholarship from USAID to attend the Archaeology in Practice course at the University of Oxford Online this past summer. She is trained as an architect, but found her interest in archaeology growing from the time she attended graduate school at the University of Jordan, where she received an M.Sc in Architectural Engineering and Cultural Resource Management.
Shatha hopes to pursue a Ph.D. in Cultural Resource Management, and her goal is to one day serve as a decision-maker in the field of cultural heritage in Jordan. The Archaeology in Practice course gave her the knowledge, tools, and perspectives she needs to continue working toward this goal. The course also came at exactly the right time. While Jordan and the world adjusted to the realities of the COVID-19 pandemic, Shatha was able to benefit from her time at home and participate in this course alongside other scholars from all over the world. USAID is proud to support the advancement of women like Shatha, who work hard to develop their skills and become leaders in their communities.”
